    Hong Kong trip 2010

Urgh idk where did the text about the 3rd day went. Hate it when things like this happen. Damn frustrating.
    -
Okay idk where to begin with! I just got back from Hong Kong :) How do I describe HK? Shopping paradise, scrumptious food, clean environment & washrooms! The thing I like most about HK is that you can dress totally over the top and no one'd care! Of course if you under dress then people would look down on you.

But in Malaysia, it's' the total opposite! People would stare at you if you dress a lil different and they'd expect you to wear t-shirts and shorts everywhere you go which is so not me!

Bottom line, I love Hong Kong!!!!

    Currency : RM1 = 2.5HKD :D

Hotel - Metro Park Hotel @ Kowloon

Love the hotel :) It's not big and glamorous and anything but it's comfy, clean and just what you need after a long day of walking.

They have shuttle buses that sends you to Mong Kok & Tsim Sha Tsui for free every 30 mins! Taking a cab at HK would cost a bomb, not to mention if you're traveling with more than 4 people, you can't take a regular cab!

So ya I highly recommend this hotel but if you're rich and shit then you should stay at the Peninsula Hotel @ Tsim Sha Tsui. Mum says it's the most prestige hotel in HK! Who knows you might be having tea with some famous HK stars! ;)

My favourtie piece - the red couch :)

    Food

Almost every restaurant has good food! The pricing is definitely higher than Malaysia but I think 40 HKD for a bowl of noodles is alright. Considering the fact that everyone has a lucrative salary there!

The dim sum there is awesome! I love their 皮蛋瘦肉粥(congee) and 烧鹅(goose)! Their goose tastes like duck but slightly better! Their fried wantan (云吞) is different compared to Malaysia's too. And whether you're a white or yellow or black whatsoever, you should try all these (:

*I strongly recommend Muslims not to visit HK because there is pork everywhere.

    Weather and fashion

It's autumn in HK now(November) I think, so the temperature is about 23 degrees? It rains almost everyday so ya be prepared to be soaked in water (: Bring 2 umbrellas at least and remember to bring a jacket everywhere you go. It's not advisable for tourists to wear heels/skirts/shorts/anything uncomfortable for you'll be freezing cold and you'll be walking for 10 hours a day!

Get a shoe insole just like I did and my feet didn't hurt at all! Everyone's wearing boots & trench coats right now so ya you should totally dress up and wear clothes you can't wear in Malaysia due to the hot weather and high humidity :( Oh ya, almost everyone owns an iPhone there! It's like a trend or something!

*Bring a pair of flats and a pair of sneakers.

    Transportation

Like I said, take the hotel shuttle bus or you can take MTRs. MTRs are like LRTs but they are usually more packed and have better facilities. There's an MTR at every city so it's really convenient for tourists like us :) They have MTRs that'd take you to Ocean Park, Disneyland, etc. Will they don't take you there directly but you can take a bus from the MTR station.

    Day 1, 3rd of November 2010

I landed around 10 in the morning? Yup I took a midnight flight. Checked in the hotel, blalallaa. Had lunch at some Chinese cafe near the hotel. It was like 50 steps away from the hotel and the food there is not bad! Took the hotel shuttle bus to Mong Kok and shopped at the Ladies' Bazaar till evening! Will have another blog post on shopping and stuff :)

Had tea at UCC. Their coconut coffee tastes.. weird? But mum likes it. Oh well! Took the shuttle bus to Tsim Sha Tsui and went to this place called.. 星光大道? I think. Not sure. They have this Guinness Record winning light show every night. To me, it was nice but nothing fascinating. Left after 5 mins.

    Lil bro's hiding behind me!

    Coconut coffee!

    Tired of shopping?

    I'm a typical tourist :)

    Mahjong! Yes it's legal!

Kid from Bei Jing who came up to me!
He said he can't understand Cantonese but truth to be told,
I couldn't really understand what he was saying either.
    Strong accent perhaps?

    Day 2, 4th of November 2010

Went to the Ocean Park by MTR & bus. Got a lil lost because my dad read the wrong map! The rides were nothing special! Ocean Park is just like Genting but with animals and cleaner toilets! I went on all the 'scary' rides but they weren't that scary after all.. BUT, I got to see and feed sea lions which was awesome!

Got to see a PANDA too. An An(panda) was locked and he couldn't get into his 'room' because the authorities wanted us to get to see it! It was so adorable! Like a totally hug-able bear!

Grandma & lil bro went back to the hotel first and me, mum & dad went to the Ladies' Bazaar to shop again!

I was the only one in shorts and it was a BIG mistake

At the front with some dude from China

    At the back alone
    Call me a daredevil

    Yup alone againnnn

    Day 3, 6th of November 2010

Took the MTR to Tung Chung. Had lunch and shopped a lil at the mall(City Gate). Went to 大屿山 to see the 大佛. Although I'm not a Buddhist, my parents are so I accompanied them. It'd be beneficial to know about other religions anyway :) Climbed a couple hundred of steps and oh my, it was freezing cold up there!

Much colder than Genting or Camerons! It was like 10 degrees or so. So better bring a thick jacket if you're going! Had dinner at City Gate and shopped a lil there too. The Esprit there is like Jusco! But a lil more expensive. No joke!

On a scale of 1-10, how Malay do I look? :)

    Day 4, 6th of November 2010

Went to Mong Kok for dimsum breakfast and shopped a lil at Langham Place(mall). Rushed back to the hotel to check out and get to the airport. Yes, it was time to leave :( How I wish we stayed for a couple more days. Had pizza & siew loong pau for lunch & flew back to Malaysia!

I think the couple thinks that I'm stalking them

    Cute Monki receipt!

    Nana :)

Stupid workers handled my luggage so roughly that one of the wheels is missing

Yup I filed a complain & I intend to claim my money back!
I'm not one to be bullied and just shut up.
    And that's my mum's name.

    That's it for now.
    p/s : Shopping post is next! (:
